The Western Masonic  District  No.117 takes in most of the western suburbs of Melbourne. It is home  to some 1360 freemasons from 24 Lodges that meet in 8 Masonic Centres.  These Centres are situated at Essendon, Moonee Ponds, Oak Park,  Yarraville,  Williamstown, Sunshine, Werribee and Melton.

This large area provides  a very diverse geographical profile from the highly industrial sites  of Altona to the semi-rural satellite towns such as Caroline Springs  and Taylor’s Lakes. The Werribee and Wyndham Vale area is claimed  to be the fastest growing area in Victoria and the fourth fastest in  Australia. Many young families are moving into the area providing  Freemasonry  with a rich source of new members.

It’s close proximity  to the Melbourne CBD and generally good transport systems are making  this area very popular and it’s industrial complexes provide many  jobs.

Sporting facilities  abound  including many top class golf courses, baseball fields, football clubs  of all persuasions and cricket clubs. There is of course the home of  the Western Bulldogs AFL Club and also the Williamstown Football Club and the  Wewrribee Football Club who play in the VFL.
